Trade Finance Operations – LC / Documentary Trade (Middle Office) Role Overview The role is responsible for supporting end-to-end processing of Documentary Trade transactions including Letters of Credit (LCs), Standby LCs (SBLCs), and Documentary Collections (DP/DA). The position will ensure accurate transaction processing, document checking, compliance adherence, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Roles & Responsibilities • Process issuance, amendment, and cancellation of Import and Export Letters of Credit (LCs) • Support Standby LCs (SBLCs), including issuance, amendment tracking, and claim handling • Handle Documentary Collections (Documents Against Payment – DP / Documents Against Acceptance – DA), including bill lodgement, acceptance tracking, and maturity monitoring • Conduct first-level document checking against LC terms in line with UCP 600 / ISP98 guidelines; identify discrepancies and escalate appropriately • Prepare and validate trade-related SWIFT messages (eg, MT700, MT707, MT760, MT400 series) as per approved instructions • Coordinate with payments/treasury teams for settlement of LC and collection transactions • Track contingent liabilities and monitor upcoming expiries and maturity dates • Perform reconciliation of trade transactions with internal systems and General Ledger • Maintain accurate transaction records, audit trails, and document archives • Generate MIS reports on outstanding LCs, bills due, discrepancies, and transaction volumes • Liaise with internal stakeholders, correspondent banks, and clients for transaction status updates and exception resolution • Ensure adherence to internal controls, AML guidelines, sanctions screening processes, and regulatory requirements Qualifications & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Finance, Banking, or a related field • 3–8 years of hands-on experience in Import/Export LCs, SBLCs, and Documentary Collections (DP/DA) • Working knowledge of UCP 600, URC 522, and ISP98 rules • Familiarity with SWIFT MT message formats related to trade finance
