About the Role We are looking for a Backend AI Engineer to join our in-office team and build high-impact backend systems using Python and PostgreSQL. In this role, you will work on scalable backend architecture as well as AI-powered product features, directly shipping code to production used by thousands of businesses globally. This is a high-ownership role where your work will have a visible, real-world impact. Responsibilities This is a high-ownership individual contributor role. • Lead and take full responsibility for the backend development of our product. • Build robust APIs and backend logic that power real-time experiences for thousands of e-commerce businesses. • Work on AI-driven features and contribute to building an AI-first product experience • Contribute to database design, performance optimisation, and overall system architecture. • Drive the product forward by owning everything from architectural decisions to final deployment. • Collaborate openly with your team, communicate proactively, and take pride in your work. This is not a solo journey. Qualifications • Technical Expertise: Strong grasp of PostgreSQL database and a Python web framework. • Customer-Centric Approach: A genuine passion for helping customers succeed and a strong commitment to providing outstanding service. • Interest or exposure to AI/ML concepts, APIs (OpenAI, etc.), or automation workflows. • Ownership-Driven: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks effectively. • Automation Mindset: Interest in identifying and implementing automation solutions to streamline processes.
