ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer with strong hands-on experience in Node.js, Express.js, PostgreSQL, and backend architecture. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of data structures, API development, middleware, and scalable backend design. Experience working within a MERN stack environment and integrating with React-based frontends is a plus. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and Express.js. • Create robust RESTful APIs and integrate with frontend applications. • Work extensively with PostgreSQL, including schema design, complex queries, optimisation, and stored procedures. • Develop middleware, authentication modules, and reusable backend components. • Implement secure, high-performance backend logic and follow best coding practices. • Collaborate with frontend developers to deliver seamless end-to-end solutions. • Optimise application performance, scalability, and reliability. • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. • Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging. • Work with version control (Git) and follow CI/CD practices. QUALIFICATIONS • 3+ years of hands-on experience in backend development. • Strong knowledge of Node.js, Express.js, and backend middleware. • Proficiency in PostgreSQL (schema design, indexing, query optimisation). • Solid understanding of data structures & algorithms. • Experience with API design, authentication (JWT/OAuth), and security best practices. • Familiarity with the MERN stack workflow and integrating with React frontends. • Experience working with Git, REST APIs, and microservices (optional). • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Good to Have • Experience with NestJS or other Node frameworks. • Knowledge of AWS, Docker, or cloud deployments. • Understanding of queues, caching layers (Redis), or background jobs. • Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD pipelines. Soft Skills • Strong communication and collaboration skills. • Ability to work independently and in a team. • Ownership mindset with a focus on delivering quality work. Education • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent (preferred, not mandatory).
