Backend Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE We are building a next-generation FinTech backend platform requiring high performance, strong reliability, and fast iteration. You will contribute to real-time microservices, configurable rule engines, secure APIs, and workflows supporting high-scale consumer experiences. This is a product-first role suited to engineers who have worked in product teams and enjoy startup-style execution. Location : Kochi (Onsite / Hybrid) Experience : 2–10 years (Multiple levels) Team : Core Product Engineering (starting with 2+ strong product engineers) RESPONSIBILITIES: • Build backend microservices using Python + FastAPI. • Design and optimise low-latency APIs. • Work with Redis + Postgres for caching and persistence. • Implement config-driven business logic (no hard-coded rules). • Work with Orkes / Temporal workflow patterns (future-ready). • Deploy and operate services on AWS. • Apply Zero Trust principles across all services. • Write unit tests, integration tests, automated QA. • Use AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude). • Collaborate with product / architecture to deliver modules end-to-end. MUST-HAVE SKILLS: • Strong Python proficiency. • FastAPI + asyncio experience. • REST API development. • Redis + Postgres expertise. • AWS experience (IAM, Lambda, ECS / EKS, SQS, VPC). • Strong security mindset, Zero Trust fundamentals. • Clean, testable code discipline. • Product engineering background. GOOD-TO-HAVE SKILLS: • Orkes / Temporal awareness. • Microservices design patterns. • Performance tuning and caching strategies. • Exposure to distributed tracing. • Interest in FinTech, UPI, payments, rewards, gamification.
