We work at the intersection of real estate, analytics, and scalable software , helping users make smarter property decisions through powerful search and valuation systems. We’re looking for a Backend Engineer who enjoys building fast, scalable APIs and loves solving real-world performance + debugging challenges. Roles and Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs using Python + FastAPI • Develop scalable systems that power Search, Data pipelines, integrating with ML models, and analytics workflows • Write efficient queries and manage relational data using PostgreSQL • Implement caching, async processing, and optimized API patterns for low latency • Improve API reliability, scalability, and maintainability through best practices and clean architecture • Debug production issues quickly and confidently (logs, tracing, profiling, root cause analysis) • Collaborate closely with product + data teams to ship features end-to-end • Build tooling and developer-friendly systems (internal APIs, admin panels, automation utilities) • Work closely with Product on feature estimation, planning • Write robust unit test cases Required Skills & Experience • 8+ Years of backend development in any of technologies (Python, Java, Go) • Strong experience with Python backend development (asyncio, background jobs, queues) is preferred. • Hands-on expertise with FastAPI (or similar frameworks like Flask/Django + willingness to adapt) is preferred. • Solid experience with PostgreSQL and SQL optimization • Experience integrating search systems like Algolia (or Elasticsearch/OpenSearch) • Strong debugging skills: ability to diagnose tricky performance issues and production failures • Experience building scalable API systems with performance in mind (rate limiting, pagination, async, caching, batching, etc.) • Familiarity with system design fundamentals (scalability, concurrency, reliability) • Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment • Excellent communication skills Nice-to-Have Skills • Knowledge of Docker, CI/CD, cloud deployment (AWS/GCP/Azure) • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Sentry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) • Experience in proptech, fintech, or data-heavy platforms • Understanding of ranking/scoring systems, relevance tuning, or search optimization • Exposure to LLM-powered tooling and workflows Engineering Culture Fit (Important) We love engineers who: • are obsessed with clean, readable, scalable code • treat debugging like a superpower • think in terms of latency + throughput • enjoy using tools like Cursor / Copilot / AI-assisted dev workflows.
