Job Description: A Business Development Manager (BDM) at the International Gemological Institute (IGI) is responsible for driving business growth by identifying new opportunities, building relationships, and promoting IGI's services, including certification and education courses. This involves market research, strategic planning, and implementing business development strategies to increase awareness and sales. Key Responsibilities: • Identifying new business opportunities: This includes researching market trends, understanding customer needs, and exploring potential new markets for IGI's services. • Building and maintaining client relationships: Developing strong relationships with clients, including diamond jewelry manufacturers, and nurturing these relationships to generate leads and close deals. • Promoting IGI's certification and education courses: Creating and implementing plans to increase awareness of IGI's certification services and educational programs. • Sales and business development: Managing the sales cycle, from lead generation to closing deals, and achieving sales targets. • Market research and analysis: Conducting market research to identify potential opportunities and understand customer preferences. • Strategic planning and implementation: Developing and executing business development strategies to achieve company objectives. • Collaboration and communication: Working with other departments, such as sales and marketing, to ensure a consistent message and coordinated efforts. • Travel and Networking: Attending industry events, visiting clients, and building connections to expand IGI's reach. Skills and Qualifications: • Experience: Proven experience in business development, sales, or a related field, preferably within the jewelry or gemological industry. • Sales Skills: Strong sales skills, including lead generation, prospecting, negotiation, and closing deals. • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and present information effectively. • Market Knowledge: Understanding of market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape. • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement business development strategies to achieve goals. • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess market potential and identify opportunities. • Education: A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is often required. • Travel: Willingness to travel within the city, state, or region to target prospective clients, as required.
