The Division of Traffic Operations is seeking a skilled and dedicated Electrician to join our Electrical Operations Unit. This role involves working under supervision to install, repair, and maintain high- and low-tension electrical systems that support lighting, heating, power, and communications across buildings, structures, and highways. Key Responsibilities: - Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems, traffic signals, surveillance cameras, controllers, and related equipment in compliance with the NYC Electrical Code, pertinent plans, specifications, and job orders. - Conduct diagnostic tests to identify faults and perform necessary repairs on existing installations. - May serve as a field representative to resolve construction-related electrical issues in city facilities and external infrastructure. - May be required to collaborate with contractors employed by the city on large-scale multi-million dollar projects, documenting the construction processes and infrastructure to ensure that a complete and accurate record exists for future projects and maintenance. - Interpret specifications to order electrical equipment and supplies, including video and fiber optic components Some assignments may require a driver's license. Preference will be given to candidate who possess a driver's license valid in the state of New York with no restrictions.. This license must be maintained throughout the duration of the appointment in this position.
