Job Description: Emerging Technologies Team Lead, Finance Shared Services Job Title: Manager / Sr. Manager – Emerging Technologies, Finance Shared Services Department Function: Digital Center of Excellence / Global Finance India Reports To: Director, Digital Center of Excellence / Global Finance India Location: Pune / Hyderabad (Hybrid Mode) About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Emerging Technologies Team Lead to drive innovation within our Finance Shared Service center. This role will lead a small team of 4-5 members to deploy cutting-edge technologies - ranging from old-school VBA scripting and RPA to advanced platforms like Databricks, Alteryx, and Generative AI (GenAI). The ideal candidate will blend technical expertise with leadership acumen to deliver automation, process optimization, and data-driven solutions while collaborating with stakeholders across Finance, IT, and vendors and drive efficiency, accuracy and capacity creation across Finance Operations. Key Skills: Technical proficiency in automation, data engineering, and analytics tools. Strong business acumen with financial modeling/ROI analysis capabilities. Exceptional communication (written/verbal) and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership (CxO). Agile mindset with adaptability to evolving priorities. KPIs / KRAs: Successful deployment of 3-5 mid-sized automation projects quarterly. Measurable capacity gains (e.g., 20% reduction in manual effort). Stakeholder satisfaction scores (leadership/end-users). Team development metrics (e.g., upskilling, retention). Uptick in emerging technologies (e.g. productivity delivered using Alteryx, GenAI). Key Responsibilities: - Leadership & Team Management: Mentor, develop and lead a team of 4-5 technical specialists with automation and analytics skillset, fostering innovation and collaboration Deliver solutions across a wide technology spectrum (e.g., VBA, Microsoft Power Platform, RPA, Alteryx, Databricks, Python, and others). - Technology Strategy & Execution: Identify and evaluate opportunities to leverage emerging technologies within Finance Shared Services. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to build and maintain a prioritized roadmap for automation and innovation that is aligned to their efficiency goals. Lead end-to-end deployment of emerging technologies to streamline finance processes (e.g., QTC, Controllership, FP&A, and financial reporting processes). Allocate tasks, set priorities, and ensure accountability for deliverables. Guide projects from ideation through implementation, ensuring alignment with business needs and scalability along with timely and quality delivery. - Business Case Development & Resourcing: Work with process owners and SMEs to develop compelling business cases for proposed solutions to justify investments in new technologies, including Cost-Benefit analysis, ROI Projections and Risk Assessment. Ensure these business cases are tailored to budget constraints, emphasizing capacity creation to offset costs. Procure resources through cost-effective partnerships with internal teams (Enterprise IT), vendors, consultants or by leveraging existing tools to ensure timely delivery. - Stakeholder Management and Communication: Provide weekly updates to senior leadership on project progress, risks, and outcomes. Translate technical details into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders. Coordinate with Enterprise IT, security, and third-party vendors as needed to deliver solutions. - Capacity Creation & Strategic Alignment: Partner with Finance leadership to identify automation opportunities that free up capacity for high-value tasks. Drive adoption of new tools and processes through training and change management, focusing on budget-conscious solutions. Track and report on capacity created through automation and technology-led initiatives. Establish clear KPIs and dashboards to communicate team impact and adoption. - Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay ahead of emerging tech trends (e.g., GenAI, low-code platforms) and recommend cost-effective adoption strategies. Optimize existing workflows and troubleshoot technical challenges through iterative improvements. Work with leadership to prioritize use-cases for strategic alignment with the Corporate GenAI office. Participate in conferences, seminars and network with industry leaders to keep abreast on the world of technology. Required Qualifications: Education :Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred. Experience :12-15 years in technology-driven transformation, automation, or innovation roles (Finance/Shared Services environments a plus). 5+ years proven experience managing a high-performing technical or automation team. Hands-on expertise with one or more of the following: RPA platforms (BluePrism, UiPath, Power Automate), scripting (VBA, Python), low-code tools (Alteryx), cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Azure, AWS), or GenAI. Project Management :Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects with tight budgets, and vendor partnerships, along with a demonstrated ability to balance strategy with ROI-driven outcomes. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a Center of Excellence or innovation lab model. Prior exposure to IT governance, vendor management, and project portfolio tracking. Corporate Finance Experience: Familiarity with QTC, Controllership, FP&A, or Financial Reporting processes (e.g., Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash). Certifications in RPA, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), PMP, or Agile methodologies. Familiarity with GenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) and their finance applications.
