Job Description: Factory Operations Head / General Manager – Manufacturing Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Factory Operations Head (GM – Manufacturing) to manage all end-to-end factory functions—including Production, Purchase, Planning, R&D, Quality Control, Stores, Logistics, Accounts, and HR. This role requires strong leadership, operational excellence, system-building capabilities, and the ability to set up a new factory from the ground up. During the first 3–4 months, the candidate will be based out of the Mumbai office for induction, learning processes, and coordinating factory construction, setup, systems development, and hiring key team leaders. Key Responsibilities • Factory Setup & Readiness (Initial Phase – First 3–4 Months in Mumbai) • Work from the Mumbai headquarters to gain complete understanding of company operations, product lines, and processes. • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal teams on factory construction, infrastructure setup, and machinery readiness. • Build and document SOPs, systems, and processes for every department before factory go-live. • Work with senior management to finalize factory layout, workflow, manpower planning, safety norms, and compliance. • Lead recruitment efforts for key factory leadership roles (Production Manager, QC Head, Stores Head, HR, Accounts, etc.). • End-to-End Factory Operations Management Once Factory Becomes Operational. Production • Oversee daily manufacturing operations to meet output, quality, and efficiency targets. • Implement lean manufacturing best practices. Purchase & Procurement • Manage procurement of raw materials, packaging, machinery, and consumables. • Negotiate with vendors and ensure timely, cost-effective supply. Planning & Coordination • Oversee production planning, demand forecasting, and inventory planning. • Align planning with sales, logistics, and production teams. R&D (Research & Development) • Guide product development, innovation, and process improvements. • Ensure R&D outputs meet quality and regulatory requirements. Quality Control / Quality Assurance • Implement strong QC/QA processes at every stage of production. • Ensure strict compliance with industry standards and certifications. Stores & Inventory Management • Oversee raw material, packaging, and finished goods inventory systems. • Implement stock management SOPs and material control procedures. Logistics & Dispatch • Ensure smooth dispatch operations, transportation planning, and timely deliveries. • Coordinate warehousing and outbound logistics efficiency. Accounts & Finance • Handle factory-level budgeting, cost control, vendor payments, and financial reporting. • Track production cost vs output and monitor profit margins. Human Resources • Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and compliance of factory staff. • Build a culture of discipline, safety, efficiency, and teamwork. System & Process Development • Create and implement SOPs across all departments. • Standardize workflows, documentation, reporting, and audit systems. • Build automated dashboards for production, purchase, quality, and inventory monitoring. • Ensure smooth communication and coordination between factory and head office. Leadership & People Management • Lead all factory teams, with every department head reporting directly to him. • Conduct performance reviews, set KPIs, and drive accountability. • Maintain a positive, safe, and efficient working environment. Compliance, Safety & Governance • Ensure adherence to all government norms, labor laws, environmental guidelines, and factory act compliance. • Implement safety protocols, training, and emergency procedures. Requirements • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing/operations with at least 5 years in a leadership or plant head role. • Experience setting up a new factory or implementing large-scale operational systems is highly preferred. • Strong knowledge of production, supply chain, QC, procurement, HR, and financial processes. • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and execution skills. • Ability to build teams, systems, and processes from scratch. • Willingness to be based in Mumbai for the first 3–4 months for induction and project supervision.
