Finance Controller-Commodity Trading

Role: Finance Controller - Commodity Trading Key Responsibilities • Manage day-to-day finance and accounting operations for the commodity trading desk and related entities (GL, AP, AR, bank reconciliations, accruals, provisions ..., MIS). • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards and group policies. • Consolidate financials for multiple countries and subsidiaries, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, eliminations, and inter-company reconciliations. • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; provide actionable insights on trading performance, margins, and costs. • Monitor and analyse P&L by product, market, and entity, including trading margins, inventory valuation, and hedging impact. • Implement and strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and SOPs across entities and geographies. • Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure statutory and tax compliance in relevant jurisdictions. • Partner with trading, risk, operations, and treasury teams to support deal structuring, working capital management, and risk mitigation. • Drive process improvements, automation, and standardisation of reporting across countries and subsidiaries. • Ensure accurate and timely management reports to senior management and group finance. Candidate Profile • Education: MBA (Finance) • Experience: 3–4 years of post-qualification experience as a Finance/Financial Controller or Senior Accountant in a commodity trading company (metals, agri, energy, etc.) or related trading environment. • Strong understanding of commodity trading flows, trade lifecycle, and related accounting (inventory, FX, LC, hedging, fair value, etc.). • Experience handling finance for multiple countries/subsidiaries, including consolidation and inter-company transactions. • Good knowledge of applicable accounting standards, taxation basics, and statutory compliances. • Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems; exposure to trading or risk systems is an advantage. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills with attention to detail. • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional and cross-border teams. • High integrity, ownership mindset, and ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic trading environment.
