About the job

Your Impact The FinOps Data Analyst will be responsible for preparing and delivering complex data products and analysis based on Cloud Service usage, cost, and revenue data as specified by Anaplan Engineering and Business teams. This will include the preparation of ad hoc reports and insights as well as the design, development and ongoing maintenance of high quality 'always on' reporting/ decision support capabilities in tools including PowerBI and Anaplan. The candidate will have hands-on experience with Google and AWS Data Products, analysis tools including SQL, Python, PowerBI and Databricks as well as familiarity with Cloud Services from major providers such as AWS, GCP and Azure. Key Responsibilities • Analysis Design, Build and Maintain, Explain: Collaborate with stakeholders to design reports in PowerBI and other platforms as needed as well as analytical data sets, including prototyping, usability testing, and data visualization, present and maintain these reports to meet ongoing business needs. • Work with internal Engineering, Finance and Product teams to ensure that FinOps data products continue to meet stakeholder needs. • Work with internal Engineering, IT and Product teams to make sure they are aware of FinOps’ data needs and that they are prioritized and delivered in a timely fashion. • Document and maintain Anaplan FinOps data products including data sets, integrations, and reports. • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development and maintenance of budgets and forecasts for cloud services and track performance against budget with actuals. Perform regular reviews with stakeholders to ensure financial, business and capacity goals are met. • Data Modeling: Develop and maintain data models as needed to support business requirements. • Collaboration: Work closely within the FinOps team, Finance, Engineering, AoA, and as needed with data scientists/analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality data products, reports and analysis. Your Qualifications • Critical thinking and problem solving: The ability to critically analyse your own as well as the team’s work. The ability to think broadly to inform stakeholder requirements as well as provide guidance on where insights are useful. • Google Data Services: Use Google Data Products including BigQuery to deliver analysis as required by stakeholders. • AWS Data Services: Use AWS Data Products such as Athena and Redshift. • Databricks: Use of Databricks for analysis. • BI Tools: 4 to 5 years of working knowledge with BI tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau), the development lifecycle of BI, report building and scheduling, data modeling within these tools. • Python: 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience with Python, especially in handling semi/unstructured data and REST API integration. • Relational Databases: 3 to 4 years of experience working with relational databases like Google Big Query, AWS Athena, AWS Redshift, or MySQL/RDBMS, with a strong focus on writing optimized queries. • Google Cloud Experience: 2 years of experience with Google BigQuery. • AWS Experience: 2 years of experience with AWS S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift. • Strong analytical skills: with the ability to interpret cloud cost and usage data and trends to make informed recommendations. • Exposure to cloud cost management tools, approaches and platforms, and experience with financial reporting and analysis. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to tell stories with data, to shed light on complex technical issues to non-technical audiences and to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders and suppliers. • Familiarity with Agile project approaches (Scrum/Kanban) and tools such as Jira. Qualification • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • Experience: 4-5 years of relevant experience in data analysis, particularly with tools from cloud platforms like Google Cloud. • Certifications: Preferred certifications in Google Cloud Platform, BI Tools, FinOps, Cloud Finance. • Skills: Proficiency in Python, SQL, BI tools, and Google Data Products.
