General Manager (Production)

About the job

We are looking for a highly experienced Production Head / General Manager (GM – Production) to lead and manage end-to-end plywood manufacturing operations. The candidate will be responsible for production planning, process optimization, quality control, cost management, manpower handling, safety compliance, and achieving production targets while ensuring consistent product quality and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Production & Operations • Overall responsibility for daily production planning and execution as per monthly and annual targets • Monitor and control raw material utilization, wastage reduction, and yield improvement • Ensure smooth functioning of all production stages: • Log Yard • Veneer Production • Drying • Glue Mixing • Pressing • Finishing & Packing Quality Control • Ensure adherence to ISI standards, quality benchmarks, and customer specifications • Implement and monitor quality assurance systems to reduce rejection and rework • Coordinate with QC team to maintain consistent product quality Manpower & Leadership • Lead, guide, and control production managers, supervisors, engineers, and workers • Workforce planning, shift management, productivity monitoring • Conduct training for supervisors and workers to improve efficiency and discipline Maintenance & Safety • Coordinate with maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance • Ensure plant safety, statutory compliance, and safe working practices • Reduce downtime and improve machine efficiency Cost Control & Efficiency • Control production cost, power consumption, glue cost, and other overheads • Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) • Suggest and implement process improvements and automation Reporting & Coordination • Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly production reports • Coordinate with purchase, stores, dispatch, and sales teams • Support management in strategic planning and capacity expansion Key Skills & Competencies: • Strong knowledge of plywood manufacturing processes • Excellent leadership and team-handling skills • Cost control, process optimization & problem-solving ability • Knowledge of ISI norms and quality systems • Good communication and decision-making skills Qualification: • B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Chemical / Industrial Engineering • MBA (Operations) will be an added advantage Experience: • 15–20+ years of experience in plywood manufacturing • Minimum 5–7 years in a senior leadership role (GM / Plant Head / Production Head) Salary & Benefits: • Attractive salary – Best in Industry (Negotiable as per experience) • Accommodation / Vehicle / Other benefits as per company policy Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month Location: • Muzaffarpur, Bihar (Preferred) Work Location: In person
