Role: Grant Manager Location: Gurugram/ Kolkata/ Hyderabad/ Bengaluru Qualification: • Bachelor’s or Post graduate degree in accounting, Commerce, Finance, or related field. • 13+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in nonprofit accounting (US preferred). • Strong understanding of US GAAP, not-for-profit accounting and financial reporting. • Experience in managing client relationships and leading teams. • Proficiency with accounting systems commonly used by US nonprofits (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Bill.com) • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills. • Ability to work overlapping hours with US time zones. Position Responsibilities: Client & Engagement Management: • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned US nonprofit clients. • Manage multiple accounting engagements, ensuring timely delivery of all recurring and ad-hoc financial requirements. • Lead client calls, monthly/quarterly reviews, and financial discussions with US leadership teams. Nonprofit Accounting & Financial Reporting: • Oversee the preparation and review of: • Monthly and annual financial statements • Balance sheet reconciliations • Budget-to-actual reports • Cash flow projections • Functional expense allocations (program, management & general, fundraising) • Ensure compliance with US based not-for-profit regulations and grant requirements. • Prepare financial statements, reports and analyses for stakeholders. • Monitor financial controls, accounting accuracy, and documentation standards. Grant, Donor & Restricted Fund Management: • Oversee tracking of restricted/unrestricted funds and grant budgets. • Collaborate with program managers to ensure accurate allocation of funds. • Should be able to manage multiple grants and reporting requirements. • Review financial reports required by funders and grant programs. • Support clients with financial components of grant proposals and reporting cycles. Audit & Compliance Support: • Prepare for and support annual external audits, including the Single Audit where applicable. • Assist with IRS Form 990 data preparation and supporting schedules. • Ensure adherence to internal controls, compliance requirements, and nonprofit sector regulations. Team Leadership & Offshore Coordination: • Lead and mentor a team of accountants and associates in India. • Review team deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and client readiness. • Provide training in US nonprofit accounting, systems, and best practices. • Foster a cohesive, quality-focused team environment. System & Process Development: • Work with accounting tools such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Bill.com, Expensify, or other nonprofit ERPs. • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. • Support system configuration, migrations, and optimization for clients as needed.
