Head of Finance

We’re looking for a Head of Finance to build and own the financial backbone of a high-growth, venture-backed consumer brand. This role goes far beyond accounting. You will own controllership, FP&A, and investor-facing finance end-to-end, work closely with founders and investors, and progressively take on CFO-level responsibilities as the company scales. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys operating in ambiguity, building systems from scratch, and partnering with founders on strategic decisions. Core Responsibilities 1. Financial Controllership & Governance (Ownership) • Own day-to-day finance operations: accounting, books closure, compliance, audits, and statutory filings • Ensure strong internal controls, cost discipline, and clean audit trails • Manage external stakeholders: auditors, tax advisors, banks, and compliance partners • Own working capital, cash flow management, and treasury decisions 2. FP&A & Business Partnering • Own annual operating plans (AOPs), rolling forecasts, and long-range financial models • Track unit economics (CM1/CM2/CM3), margins, and category-wise profitability • Partner with founders and functional heads on pricing, inventory, marketing ROI, and growth trade-offs • Build decision-making dashboards for leadership (weekly/monthly reviews) 3. Investor Relations, MIS & Fundraise Readiness • Own investor MIS: monthly updates, board decks, performance narratives • Lead data rooms, financial DD, and investor queries during fundraises • Work directly with founders on fundraising strategy, valuation models, and scenario planning • Maintain high credibility with existing and prospective investors 4. CFO Advisory & Strategic Finance • Act as a thought partner to founders on capital allocation, expansion bets, and risk management • Support M&A, secondary transactions, ESOP planning, and capital structuring • Drive financial discipline while enabling speed and innovation • Gradually take ownership of CFO-level strategic decisions as scale and complexity increase What We’re Looking For Must-Have • 8–12+ years of experience in finance, controllership, FP&A, or strategic finance • Experience in venture-backed startups, consumer/D2C, or high-growth businesses • Strong grounding in accounting, compliance, and financial controls • Hands-on experience with investor reporting, MIS, and due diligence • Ability to switch seamlessly between detail and strategy Good to Have • Prior experience working closely with founders or leadership teams • Exposure to fundraises, board interactions, or PE/VC environments • CA / MBA / equivalent finance qualification Why This Role Matters • Direct exposure to founders, board, and investors • Opportunity to build the finance function ground-up, not inherit legacy chaos • Clear path to becoming CFO as the company scales • High ownership, high trust, and real decision-making authority
