About the job

The Head of Human Resources, India will lead the HR function across JOOLA’s India operations, supporting both the India commercial business and the Global Capability Centre (GCC). This is a hands-on leadership role that combines operational HR leadership with commercial awareness, in a very lean team. The successful candidate will work closely with India leadership, APAC stakeholders, and global teams to ensure that people strategies support business growth while maintaining strong operational discipline. Key responsibilities 1. HR Strategy and Business Partnership • Partner closely with business leaders to translate organizational priorities into HR strategies and workforce plans • Provide guidance on organizational design, team structuring, and workforce planning • Ensure people decisions are grounded in business economics, including productivity and manpower cost management • Act as the primary HR advisor to India leadership while maintaining alignment with regional APAC frameworks • Navigate a matrix environment involving local, regional, and global stakeholders 2. Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning • Own end-to-end recruitment across the India commercial organization and GCC • Develop hiring strategies to support business growth and capability center expansion • Partner with hiring managers to define role scopes and hiring priorities • Drive hands-on recruitment activities including sourcing, candidate assessment, and interviews • Build sustainable talent pipelines for critical business and technical roles 3. HR Operations and Employee Lifecycle • Oversee the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding • Ensure HR processes are clearly defined, scalable, and consistently implemented • Support managers in handling performance management and employee relations matters • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation 4. Talent Management and Development • Deploy a modern performance management framework tied to clear KPIs and OKRs • Lead annual talent reviews to assess performance, potential, and succession readiness • Design capability-building programs, career paths, and leadership development tracks 5. Policy Development and Governance • Develop HR policies and frameworks that support operational discipline and organisational growth • Establish structured processes and controls across key HR practices • Identify operational gaps and implement practical solutions • Ensure HR policies remain aligned with regional frameworks while reflecting India market realities 6. Compensation, Benefits and HR Systems • Manage compensation and benefits frameworks aligned with India market benchmarks and company philosophy • Collaborate with finance to ensure strong governance around payroll and compensation administration • Administer HRIS and payroll systems to ensure accurate employee data management • Maintain disciplined processes around compensation adjustments and benefits administration 7. Reporting, Automation and Continuous Improvement • Present regular HR updates to India and global leadership in a structured, data-backed format • Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and AI • Work with internal teams or vendors to implement automation across recruitment, employee queries, and reporting • Build scalable HR structures capable of supporting headcount growth and potential expansion into new locations or workforce models 8. Compliance and Regulatory Management • Ensure HR practices comply with Indian labour laws and statutory requirements • Oversee employment contracts, statutory filings, and HR documentation • Work with legal advisors and external vendors where necessary to maintain compliance • Maintain audit readiness for HR compliance matters What We’re Looking For • 7-10 years of HR experience spanning operational HR and HR leadership roles • Experience supporting Global Capability Centres (GCC) or multinational organisations • Demonstrated experience building HR frameworks, policies, and governance structures from the ground up • Strong hands-on experience managing recruitment and the full employee lifecycle • Experience working in fast-paced environments
