Job Summary: The Investment Banking Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) will support senior bankers in executing transactions and providing strategic advice to financial institutions. This role includes financial modeling, valuation, transaction structuring, and client interaction within the FIG sector, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), capital raising, and strategic advisory services. Key Responsibilities: • Financial Modeling & Analysis: • Build and maintain financial models for valuations, mergers, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and capital raising activities. • Conduct detailed company and industry analysis, including financial performance, competitive positioning, and market trends in the FIG sector. • Valuation: • Perform valuations using various methodologies including discounted cash flow (DCF), precedent transactions, and comparable company analysis. • Assist in preparing pitch books, presentations, and transaction-related documents. • Industry Research: • Stay updated on trends, regulations, and developments within the financial services sector, including banking, insurance, asset management, and fintech. • Research and analyze financial institutions and markets to identify business opportunities and potential clients. • Deal Execution: • Assist senior bankers in deal execution across M&A, debt, and equity transactions. • Participate in due diligence, liaise with legal and accounting teams, and coordinate with clients and potential buyers or investors. • Client Interaction: • Prepare client presentations and pitch materials. • Support relationship management with key clients by providing relevant market insights and financial advisory services. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. A master’s degree (MBA) or CFA designation is a plus. • 2-7 years of experience in investment banking, financial analysis, or a related field, preferably with a focus on FIG. • Strong knowledge of financial services and FIG subsectors (banks, insurance, asset management, fintech). • Excellent financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills. • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg, Capital IQ). • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and corporate finance concepts. • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Skills: • Knowledge of FIG-specific regulatory frameworks (Basel III, Solvency II, etc.). • Experience with large-scale transactions in FIG (M&A, IPOs, etc.). • High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team and work closely with senior bankers.
