The role requires the person to work from Office on a hybrid model with a minimum of 2-3 days. Job Description The Manager, Engineering is responsible for leading and managing a team of software engineers and/or quality assurance engineers in the development and delivery of high-quality software applications. This role works closely with the product manager and product owner(s) to create and execute a development plan, ensuring that engineering processes are followed for each release. The Manager, Engineering collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise quality solutions and drive best practices and standards. Responsibilities • Lead and manage a team of software engineers and quality assurance engineers. • Work with product managers and product owners to create and execute development plans. • Ensure that engineering processes are followed for each release and report on the status of the development process; work to maintain development within the release schedule framework. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-quality solutions and drive best practices and standards. • Manage the software development lifecycle (SDLC). • Instill and enforce agile processes, using metrics and data to drive team optimization and performance improvements. • Hire, train, and manage development teams (in-house and outsourced) within departmental budgets. • Manage risks and resolve issues that might impact the development team’s performance, morale and product quality. • Respond to application support or security incidents as they arise. Qualifications Education: • Professional degree: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Requirements • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a management position. • Strong technical background in software development and architecture with Progress 4GL. • QAD Experience needed. Other Knowledge • Experience in leading and managing software engineering teams. • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology and software development lifecycle. • Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting to stakeholders and management. • Strong leadership skills, with experience in hiring, training, and developing team members. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Experience with quality assurance processes and tools. • Strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. • Preferred experience working on enterprise software.
