What You Can Expect The Negotiation Excellence Leader plays a critical role in enhancing negotiation outcomes through data analysis, playbook & negotiation tools development, and cross-functional collaboration. This position combines negotiation and analytical expertise with strategic procurement insight to drive value, mitigate risk, and support business growth. How You'll Create Impact • Support the creation and refinement of negotiation frameworks, playbooks, and best practices. • Act as coach and expert sounding board for supplier negotiation development. • Analyze past negotiation outcomes to identify patterns, risks, and improvement opportunities. • Identify negotiation opportunities with external suppliers and service partners and develop broad road maps for commercial and contractual terms including costs. • Facilitate, Organize Nego Events with Suppliers to Deliver increased productivity. • Conduct spending analysis, supplier performance reviews, and market benchmarking to inform negotiation tactics. • Build dashboards and models to track negotiation KPIs (e.g., savings, cycle time, win/loss ratios). • Partner with category managers, legal, and finance to prepare for high-impact negotiations. • Conduct training of the Procurement organization on negotiation excellence skills and advance negotiation technique. • Develop training materials and toolkits to upskill internal teams on negotiation excellence. • Identify gaps in negotiation workflows and recommend process improvements. • Support automation and digital tools that enhance negotiation efficiency and transparency. • Ensure negotiation practices align with internal policies and external regulatory requirements. • Maintain documentation and audit trails for strategic negotiations. • Prepare reports, presentations, business communications, data summaries, and other documents of both a recurring and nonrecurring nature. Create reports to show financial impact of procurement projects and initiatives. • Perform moderately complex analyses of data to draw inferences or conclusions to drive sound decisions. • Identify and define procurement best practices both within and external to Zimmer Biomet and ensure that those best practices are widely adopted within the company. • Collaborate actively with key stakeholders to ensure Procurement is actively engaged at the beginning of the process in core business initiatives and processes. • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as any internal policies or procedures to ensure that the behavior exhibited by the organization is honest, ethical, and professional. • Partner with other functions to ensure compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. What Makes You Stand Out • End to End understanding of Commercial, Contractual terms and product Costing. • Strong behavioral aspects required for Negotiations like - ability to challenge, deal making and ability to find win-win solutions with active listening and attention to details. • Knowledge of various negotiation techniques along with e-Auctions experience. • Strong track record in Procurement, Category Management, Contract Management & Negotiation. • Ability to engage and influence and facilitate internal business partners and team members at all levels of the organization. Ability to establish relationships quickly with a broad range of constituents. Must possess a collaborative style to work effectively throughout the organization. • Excellent written, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences at various organizational levels. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Proficient with Microsoft Office and related software. Strong skills in working with Excel, database software, Auction software, BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), ERP systems (specifically SAP), and statistics. • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail to keep accurate records and organize information effectively and efficiently. • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. • Demonstrated history of taking initiative, meeting commitments, and assisting in the creation of new tools or solutions to achieve business results. • Proven track record of effective process management and improvement. • Ability to tolerate ambiguity, handle multiple priorities, and identify creative solutions to problems. • Financial acumen with a solid understanding of common financial statements. • High level of personal accountability and integrity. • Energetic and driven to successfully reach objectives. • Proficient with and/or the ability to quickly learn Zimmer Biomet’s systems. • Knowledge of functional best practices, industry trends, legal and regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies. Your Background Required Technical Skills • Strong negotiation and procurement expertise with hands-on experience in strategic sourcing (direct or indirect), category management, contract management, and advanced negotiation frameworks. • Data-savvy and analytical capability, including spend analysis, supplier performance analysis, KPI tracking, and building dashboards/models using tools such as Excel, BI tools (Power BI/Tableau), and ERP systems (SAP or any other ERP system). • Ability to train, coach, and enable teams by developing negotiation playbooks, frameworks, training materials, and conducting negotiation excellence training across the organization. • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and senior leadership on high-impact negotiations. • Process improvement and governance mindset, including ensuring negotiation practices align with internal policies, regulatory requirements, documentation standards, and audit readiness. Education and Experience Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field (master’s degree preferred). • At least 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain analytics required with a minimum bachelor’s level of education. • Experienced in managing large, complex and global contracts in diverse cultural environment. • Commensurate combination of education and experience may be considered. • Understanding procurement: best practices, contract law, and supplier risk management. • Strong track record in Procurement, Category Management, Contract Management & Negotiation. • Specific formal training in negotiation techniques and advanced negotiation methodology (i.e. Gate theory). • Familiarity with contract terms, supplier management, and negotiation frameworks. • Professional, related certification is preferred. • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification or training preferred. • Experience in a regulated environment is preferred. Travel Expectations Must possess the ability to travel on a regular basis with overnight stays up to 20%. Occasional global travel may be required. EOE/M/F/Vet/Disability
