Job Description Job Title: Optimizely Technical Lead (Front-end) Job Description As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality frontend solutions across diverse architectures. This role requires both technical expertise and the ability to bridge modern and legacy systems, ensuring consistent quality, maintainability, and performance. You will be working closely with a single client developing a code base to serve multiple markets and purposes. The main technology stack will be Next.js, REST API or GraphQL, TypeScript and SCSS. We also expect you to work with Storybook and a suite of automated testing tools. It is a benefit if you have experience integrating with Optimizely – and have designed websites that function for multiple markets and cultures – Read: RTL and LTR support, multilanguage support and experience shipping websites that meet accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA), data privacy (GDPR), and regional compliance requirements. Being a senior engineer means you have experience leading a frontend team in a project. You seek to understand what the client is trying to achieve and take an active role in shaping the right solution, not just implementing what's handed to you. You know how to design frontend architectures that are scalable, secure, compliant, and performant. You're skilled at refining tasks, and when details are missing, you go find the answers rather than waiting for them. You care about PR quality, team processes, and how frontend work gets done. Responsibilities • Take ownership of complex application features, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery. • Drive development with a broader architectural and strategic perspective. • Collaborate closely with backend engineers, project leads, and design teams. • Enforce and promote code quality standards and modern frontend best practices. • Mentor developers and onboard new team members. • Apply AI-assisted development workflows effectively in daily work. • Ensure long-term code stability, maintainability, and scalability. • Identify and resolve issues related to usability, performance, and accessibility. • Provide accurate time and effort estimates during project planning. • Integrate and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to project needs. • Share knowledge through departmental training, documentation, and code reviews. • Conduct technical audits and contribute to technical reporting. • Follow and improve development and release processes. Required Experience • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in frontend development. • Proven track record of leading frontend projects successfully. • Hands-on experience working in agile development environments (SCRUM or SAFe). Mandatory Skills • Strong communication skills in English. • Extensive hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js. • Experience working with REST APIs and GraphQL. • Experience working with SCSS and Storybook. • Solid experience with automated testing frameworks and practices. • Experience applying accessibility (A11y), SEO, performance and security best practices in production environments. Bonus Skills • Proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools. • Experience integrating with Optimizely API. • Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation in general.
