About the Project The 10BedICU Project, launched in 2021, focuses on enhancing critical care capacity in district and sub-district hospitals across India. The initiative has established 214+ functional ICUs, supported by centralized Tele-ICU services and powered by the CARE EMR platform. Building on this, the project is now piloting CARE HMIS, a modular, interoperable Health Management Information System aligned with national data standards (FHIR, SNOMED CT). The pilot aims to digitize hospital processes across 30 government health facilities, strengthen documentation practices, and enable data-driven decision-making. The National Cancer Grid (NCG) TeleOPD project enables remote oncology consultations between government hospitals and Tata Memorial Hospital using a structured digital platform. It focuses on protocol-based care, standardized documentation, and training of government clinicians to improve access and continuity of cancer care. The pilot is designed for evaluation and scale-up across other NCG centres. About the Role This role is primarily focused on end-to-end CARE HMIS deployment at JNIMS, Imphal, ensuring strong on-ground implementation, adoption, and system stabilization. As a Product Operations Manager for the CARE HMIS project at JNIMS, you will lead on-ground implementation, working closely with clinicians, administrators, and field engineers to ensure effective deployment, adoption, and stabilization of the system. You will translate hospital workflows into configurable digital processes (e.g., Activity Definitions, Plan Definitions, ChargeItem Definitions), map clinical and administrative requirements to FHIR-compliant workflows, and ensure alignment with national standards. You will also coordinate with product, engineering, and program teams to address on-ground challenges, while contributing to documentation and continuous improvement of CARE as an open digital public good. In addition, the role will support ongoing Tele-ICU and National Cancer Grid (NCG) initiatives running in parallel, working closely with clinical and program teams to ensure smooth operational coordination. The role will work closely with a team of field engineers deployed at the hospital, anchoring their efforts, aligning workflows, and ensuring effective execution on the ground. Key Responsibilities Product Planning & Coordination • Collaborate with engineering teams, clinical leads, and implementation partners to define product requirements • Maintain implementation roadmaps and deployment timelines across state implementations • Track deployment readiness and contribute to sprint planning using GitHub Projects Implementation & Deployment (Primary Focus) • Lead on-ground deployment of CARE HMIS at JNIMS, including configuration, training, and go-live support • Work closely with field engineers to drive day-to-day implementation and issue resolution • Ensure strong adoption among clinicians, nurses, and administrative staff • Identify and resolve operational challenges during and post deployment • Ensure system stabilization and continuous improvement Documentation & Standardization • Create and maintain product documentation as markdown files, including user stories, SOPs, and implementation guides • Coordinate creation of FHIR-compliant resources like Activity Definitions, Plan Definitions, and ChargeItem Definitions, for Govt. Hospitals • Ensure documentation reflects each state’s workflow and field-tested configurations FHIR Mapping & Standards Alignment • Map user stories and feature requests to FHIR workflows such as Questionnaires, Observations, Encounters, and ServiceRequests • Develop requirement specifications aligned with national and international standards • Maintain traceability between user needs and digital implementations Stakeholder & Team Coordination • Work closely with field engineers, clinicians, and hospital administration to ensure seamless implementation • Align multiple on-ground actors to maintain momentum and accountability • Provide structured updates and proactively flag risks or bottlenecks Open Source & Community Engagement • Manage community feedback, issues, and contributions through GitHub • Contribute to discussions and pull requests from open-source contributors • Promote transparency, usability, and reuse of CARE's architecture by public health teams and developers • Facilitate onboarding and collaboration for external contributors and partner developers. Required Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Engineering, Public Health, or a related field is preferred • 3-5 years of experience in product or implementation roles • Hands-on experience with GitHub for project management and open-source collaboration • Familiarity with FHIR and clinical data standards • Excellent coordination, writing, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience in public health digital projects or EMR/HMIS implementations • Proficiency in Notion, GitHub Projects, and documentation workflows • Working knowledge of FHIR resources such as Encounter, Observation, ServiceRequest, and CarePlan • Experience managing or contributing to open-source health software • Comfort engaging with diverse stakeholder groups including government, clinical teams, and developers.
