Job Description: Senior Backend Developer – Ruby on Rails and Node.js Company: Katomaran Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Location: Coimbatore (Onsite) Experience: 4–6 Years Employment Type: Full-time Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer with strong experience in Ruby on Rails and Node.js to design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems. The ideal candidate will take ownership of backend architecture, ensure performance and scalability, and collaborate closely with frontend, DevOps, and product teams. Key Responsibilities: ● Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Ruby on Rails and Node.js ● Architect scalable, secure, and high-availability backend systems ● Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend integrations ● Optimize application performance, database queries, and background jobs ● Ensure high standards of code quality, security, and maintainability ● Work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps teams ● Implement authentication, authorization, and data protection mechanisms ● Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions ● Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance ● Troubleshoot production issues and ensure system reliability Required Skills & Qualifications: ● 4-6 years of hands-on experience in Ruby on Rails and Node.js ● Strong expertise in Ruby on Rails (ActiveRecord, background jobs, API-only apps) ● Solid experience with Node.js (Express/NestJS or similar frameworks) ● Proficiency with PostgreSQL / MySQL ● Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) ● Strong understanding of database design, indexing, and performance tuning ● Experience with AWS / Azure / GCP ● Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployments ● Exposure to CI/CD pipelines ● Knowledge of background processing tools (Sidekiq, Bull, etc.) ● Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, and security best practices ● Experience with third-party API integrations ● Familiarity with Git-based version control workflows ● Knowledge of system monitoring and logging tools is a plus Preferred Skills (Good to Have): ● Experience with event-driven systems or message queues ● Exposure to frontend technology (React.js) ● Experience in startup or product-based environments.
