Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer Location: Nagpur (On-Site) Type: Full-time Experience: 4+ or 6+ We’re building Yoco Stays, a multi-platform SaaS for student housing, hostel management, and community operations. We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who can design, build, and evolve a secure, scalable, and reliable backend system for our mobile (Flutter) and web (React) apps. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, cares about engineering quality, and wants to shape a product from early stages into a robust, production-grade system. What You’ll Own • Architect, develop, and maintain backend services and REST APIs for mobile & web clients. • Design database schemas, migrations, and queries with strong focus on performance & data integrity. • Implement authentication, authorisation, and secure access control for multiple user roles. • Own reliability: transactions, error handling, retry mechanisms, logging, audit trails, data consistency. • Prevent “half-written data” scenarios with proper systems design, transaction management, and rollbacks. • Build scalable tech that can handle large uploads, async tasks, cron jobs, queues, and background workers. • Perform code reviews, refactors, and performance optimisations as the system grows. • Handle deployment, monitoring, incident response, and production troubleshooting. • Ensure compliance with security and privacy best practices. Required Experience • 4+ or 6+ years of professional backend engineering experience (production systems). • Strong proficiency in Node.js with Express/Nest.js (or equivalent backend framework). • Strong experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL (schema design, indexing, transactions, stored procedures). • Solid understanding of API lifecycle: versioning, documentation, testing, deprecation. • Experience hosting, monitoring, and scaling apps on AWS / GCP / DigitalOcean / similar. • Good understanding of: • concurrency • caching • asynchronous processing • scalability • Familiarity with security practices like: • encryption • hashing • access tokens • rate limiting • Ability to work independently, own decisions, and ship reliable code without constant oversight. Bonus Skills (Not mandatory, but awesome to have) • Experience with Firebase, push notifications, background job queues. • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, containerization. • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture. • Experience with message queues (Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka). • Experience with cloud cost optimisation & infra planning.
