About the job

As a Senior Buyer, your role involves end-to-end management of commodities, including sourcing, executing strategies, meeting program targets, TVM goals, and global commodity business plans. Here are the key responsibilities associated with this position: - Develop and execute negotiation strategies to achieve program targets on tooling and piece price. - Proactively plan activities to exceed Matched Pair objectives. - Negotiate and secure year-over-year (YOY) and month-over-year (MYA) cost reductions using analytical tools for Best-In-Class pricing. - Lead negotiations with regional suppliers and represent the company in global negotiations. - Drive Lean/Value Engineering projects with suppliers to bring value chain benefits. - Lead or support Cross-Functional Teams (CFT) in developing a sustainable supply base focusing on Quality, Delivery, and Costing. - Drive localization and cost-saving initiatives in affected markets to meet regulations. - Identify high-risk suppliers and develop risk mitigation action plans. - Participate effectively in global commodity meetings to leverage global/regional programs with suppliers. - Formulate regional commodity strategies for short and long-term business goals and align them with the global commodity business plan. In terms of qualifications, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably with an MBA, along with 5-10 years of related experience (preferably in automotive buying). Furthermore, you should possess the following professional exposure: - Strong research, data mining, analytical, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent presentation and communication skills. - Ability to work in challenging environments and strive for continuous improvement. - Understanding of cost drivers and achieving desired cost structures. - Good knowledge of manufacturing processes across various commodities. - Proficiency in leading structured supplier meetings and driving desired outcomes. - Strong negotiation skills, creativity, and proactive approach. - Commitment to timelines, proactive questioning, and logical thinking. - Willingness to learn, teach, and share experiences within the team. Additionally, preferred experiences include comprehensive knowledge of various commodities and previous automotive purchasing experience. Leadership skills are crucial, emphasizing integrity, commitment to delivery, prioritization, teamwork, effective consultation, and coaching abilities. Your functional/technical skills should include manufacturing process knowledge, negotiation skills, project management, and proficiency in GPDS. Special knowledge of implementing the "7 truths" and embracing the "Partner to Win" philosophy is required, along with the ability to work across different time zones and manage relationships with regional supply bases, cross-functional teams, and joint venture teams. This position is at a senior level, indicating a strong potential for leadership in a cross-functional, multicultural environment.
