Our client, a forward-thinking financial services firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist specializing in Accounting Analytics to join their fully remote team. You will be responsible for developing sophisticated analytical models, algorithms, and insights that enhance financial reporting, fraud detection, risk management, and operational efficiency. Working remotely, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance professionals, data engineers, and business analysts, to identify key challenges and opportunities where data science can provide significant value. Your work will directly influence critical business decisions and contribute to the strategic direction of the company. This role requires a deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and data visualization, applied specifically to financial and accounting data. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms to analyze large datasets related to accounting and finance. Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in financial data to improve reporting accuracy and identify potential fraud. Develop predictive models for financial forecasting, risk assessment, and revenue optimization. Collaborate with stakeholders to define business problems and translate them into data science solutions. Clean, transform, and prepare data from various sources for analysis. Create insightful data visualizations and dashboards to communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and accounting technologies. Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the team's knowledge base. Ensure the ethical and responsible use of data in all analytical processes. Document methodologies, findings, and recommendations thoroughly. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or a related quantitative field. 5+ years of relevant experience in data science, with a strong focus on financial or accounting analytics. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch). Strong experience with SQL and working with large relational databases. Demonstrated experience with machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, time series analysis). Familiarity with accounting principles and financial statement analysis. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. Proven ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
