Genuine finance business partnering role - commercial & strategic Opportunity to manage a small high performing team Sydney based, permanent role Overview A large, private Australian capital-intensive organisation is seeking a hands-on Senior Finance Business Partner – Assets & Projects to lead capital planning, investment analysis and governance within their operating environment. This role partners closely with operational and technical teams to assess major capital investments, improve approval processes and provide clear insight on capital priorities. Key Responsibilities - Lead a small specialist team delivering capital planning, analysis and approval activities. - Own capital budgeting across short, medium and long-term horizons, including prioritisation and tracking of capex spend. - Build, review and challenge detailed financial models to assess returns, risks and value creation for capital projects. - Partner with operational and engineering stakeholders to develop high-quality, auditable business cases. - Drive practical improvements in capital governance, approval frameworks and reporting. - Provide clear, actionable insights to senior finance and executive stakeholders. Ideal Candidate - Degree qualified in Finance, Economics or a STEM discipline; CA or CPA preferred. - Strong experience in capital planning, investment analysis or FP&A roles within capital-intensive or industrial environments. - Advanced financial modelling capability with a hands-on approach to analysis. - Proven ability to manage priorities, deliver to deadlines and improve processes. - Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills. - Experience with tools such as Excel, Power BI and enterprise ERP systems highly regarded.
