Your day at NTT DATA The Senior Manager, Data Science is a senior management role accountable for operationally managing other seasoned or senior Data Scientists / Data Analysts. In addition to managing a team, this role applies and inspires the adoption of data science and analytics within the organization. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage data-driven solutions that add business value using statistical models, machine learning algorithms, data mining, and visualization techniques. Key responsibilities: • Manages a team of Data Scientists / Data Analysts to ensure achievement of team objectives/KPIs and continuously coaches the team to help them understand and apply data to solve business solutions. • Identifies opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions. • Provides guidance in the research, design, implementation and deployment of scalable data analytics vision and machine learning solutions to challenge complex business issues. • Provides guidance in the enhancement of data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems. • Provides guidance to process, clean, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis, and building algorithms necessary to find meaningful answers. • Perform analysis using programming languages or statistical packages such as Python and R etc. • Guides on the mining and analysis of data to drive optimization and improvement of business strategy. • Provides guidance to develop scalable and highly available applications leveraging the latest tools and technologies. • Creatively visualizes and effectively communicates results of data analysis, insights, and ideas in a variety of formats to key decision-makers within the business. • Manages the development of SQL Queries for reports and dashboards. • Analyzes relational and transactional databases to provide data analysis and presents results in a clear manner. • Provides guidance on the creation of documentation around processes and procedures and manages code reviews. • Applies industry standards best practices to development activities and continuously ensures the team remains abreast of latest technology and tools in the area of data science. Academic qualifications and certifications: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. • Relevant programming certification preferred. • Agile certification preferred. Required experience: • Extended demonstrable experience with one or more programming languages, statistical packages, and database languages. • Extended demonstrable experience with data warehouse and data lake technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT, and reporting/analytic tools. • Extended demonstrated experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, etc. (excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable). • Extended demonstrated experience with machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc. • Extended demonstrable experience applying statistical methods and machine learning techniques to solve business problems. • Extended demonstrated experience with distributed data/computing tools such as Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, MySQL, etc. • Extended demonstrated experience in working in micro-services architecture working with APIs development. • Extended demonstrable experience of full-stack software development with prolific coding abilities. • Extended demonstrable experience in Elastic search, Scoring, and recommendation on very large volumes of data. • Extended demonstrated experience with Agile Development Methodologies and Test-Driven Development. • Solid line manager experience leading and managing a team of Data Scientists / Data Analysts.
