Senior MERN Stack Developer (Platform Engineering) Location : Onsite – Mumbai Reports to : Program Lead Network Science is a global AI innovation platform powering enterprise AI transformation through a metric-backward approach. As we scale, we are building a core technology platform, not one-off applications. For that, we are looking for a Senior MERN developer. If you enjoy building real-world AI systems, making trade-offs with clarity, and building solutions that survive enterprise complexity, this role is for you. What You Will Own Platform Engineering • Design and build scalable platform services using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js). • Own backend services that are production-grade, secure, and designed for scale. • Make architectural decisions that optimize performance, maintainability, and extensibility. Frontend Systems • Build React-based frontend systems that are modular, reusable, and consistent across platform surfaces. • Ensure performance, accessibility, and maintainable UI architecture — not UI hacks. Backend & Data • Design MongoDB schemas and data models that support high-throughput, multi-tenant usage. • Build APIs that are predictable, versioned, and documented. • Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access control at platform level. Code Quality & Engineering Discipline • Write code that others can safely build on. • Enforce code quality through reviews, testing, and documentation. • Reduce technical debt instead of postponing it. Collaboration & Ownership • Work closely with product, design, DevOps, and leadership — no ticket-passing culture. • Mentor engineers where needed; raise the engineering bar consistently. • Take responsibility for systems in production — build it, ship it, own it. What We Expect You to Be Good At Core Skills (Non-Negotiable) • 4–5 years of hands-on experience building full-stack systems using : o JavaScript / TypeScript o React.js o Node.js & Express.js o MongoDB • Strong understanding of platform architecture, not just feature delivery. • Experience building RESTful APIs and handling real-world edge cases. • Strong grasp of web security, authentication, and performance optimization. • Comfortable working with Git, code reviews, and collaborative engineering workflows. Engineering Mindset • You think in systems, not screens. • You ask, “Will this scale?” before you ask, “Will this work?” • You care about reliability as much as velocity. • You don’t wait for instructions when something is broken. Must-Have Qualifications • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments. • High empathy with high performance — you care about quality AND outcomes. • Deep ownership mindset : you love fixing problems before they are noticed. Good to Have (Signals of Maturity) • Experience with Next.js, GraphQL, or event-driven systems. • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure) and CI / CD pipelines. • Familiarity with Docker and modern deployment practices. • Experience working on multi-tenant platforms or enterprise SaaS products.
