Senior Python Developer

About the job

Were a Canada -headquartered product company building tools in the compliance audit space. Were looking for a senior Python developer who thinks like a product owner – someone who doesn’t just ship features but shapes what gets built and why. What you’ll do: • You’ll own significant parts of our product, end-to-end. • That means understanding customer problems, designing solutions, building them on our core stack (FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Docker, RabbitMQ), and iterating based on what you learn. • You’ll have a seat at the table when we decide what to build next – not just how. • You’ll also own our delivery pipeline. • GitHub and GitHub Actions are how we ship – you’ll design workflows, automate testing, and keep our release process tight. • We’re not looking for someone who treats CI / CD as an afterthought; it’s part of owning what you build. • We expect you to use AI tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor, etc.) as a default part of your workflow – not as a novelty, but as a force multiplier. What we’re looking for: • 5-8 years of experience in Python development, preferably in a product company. • Strong backend fundamentals: FastAPI (or similar frameworks), PostgreSQL, Docker, async processing with RabbitMQ. • Solid GitHub Actions experience – designing workflows, automating tests and deployments. • Product thinking: you ask why are we building this before how do I build this. • Comfortable making decisions, not waiting for specs. • More than specific tools, we need someone who can work independently, take ownership of outcomes, and deliver under pressure. We don’t micromanage – we set direction and expect you to run with it.
