Our client, a trailblazing pharmaceutical research company at the forefront of harnessing artificial intelligence for drug discovery, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Research Scientist. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will lead groundbreaking research initiatives, developing and applying advanced machine learning and AI methodologies to accelerate the identification and validation of novel therapeutic targets and drug candidates. Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and implement novel AI/ML algorithms and models for various stages of drug discovery, including target identification, lead optimization, and preclinical assessment. - Analyze large-scale biological and chemical datasets (genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, chemical libraries) to extract actionable insights. - Collaborate closely with computational chemists, biologists, pharmacologists, and other research scientists to define research questions and project goals. - Lead and mentor junior researchers in the application of AI/ML techniques and best practices in scientific research. - Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI/ML, bioinformatics, cheminformatics, and relevant therapeutic areas. - Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at leading scientific conferences. - Develop and maintain robust computational pipelines and workflows for data processing and analysis. - Contribute to intellectual property generation through patents and publications. - Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools to enhance research capabilities. - Ensure adherence to data integrity, reproducibility, and ethical standards in all research activities. Qualifications: - Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, or a closely related quantitative field. - Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry research experience in applying AI/ML to biological or chemical problems, specifically within drug discovery or development. - Demonstrated expertise in machine learning techniques (e.g., deep learning, supervised/unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning) and statistical modeling. - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn). - Experience working with large biological and chemical datasets and associated analytical tools. - Strong understanding of molecular biology, pharmacology, or medicinal chemistry principles is essential. - Proven track record of publications and/or patents in AI/ML for life sciences. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, interdisciplinary team. - Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data technologies is a plus.
