Role Overview We are looking for a high-ownership Sourcing Engineer who can build and scale Pluto’s supplier ecosystem across both electrical and mechanical domains for EV platforms. This is not a traditional procurement role — you will directly influence: • Product cost • Technology choices • Supplier strategy • Speed from prototype to production You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams to ensure: Right part · Right cost · Right time · Every time. What You Will Drive 1. Supplier Ownership & Ecosystem Building • Identify, onboard, and develop suppliers across: • Electrical: PCBA, controllers, sensors, wiring harness, connectors, EMS • Mechanical: fabrication, casting, machining, plastics, sheet metal • Build a reliable, scalable supplier base aligned with fast product cycles • Drive supplier performance across QCDD (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Development) • Conduct capability audits, capacity checks, and process reviews • Build long-term partnerships, not transactional vendor relationships 2. Cost Leadership & Strategic Sourcing • Own sourcing strategy across electrical & mechanical commodities • Drive: • Cost-down initiatives • Localization (FAME II / PMP mindset) • Value engineering from design stage • Perform: • Should costing • Zero-based costing • BOM optimization • Lead commercial closure: • Pricing, contracts, NDAs, GPAs, INCOTERMS • Track market dynamics: • Electronics supply risks (semiconductors, ICs) • Raw material trends (metal, plastics) 3. NPD Acceleration (Prototype to Production) • Enable sourcing for: • Alpha, Beta, Pilot builds • Ensure supplier readiness for scale-up & mass production • Work with engineering on: • Make vs Buy decisions • Design-to-cost • Act as a bridge between design intent & supplier capability 4. Supplier Performance & Risk Management • Monitor supplier KPIs and drive continuous improvement • Identify risks across: • Technology • Capacity • Supply chain disruptions • Implement: • Supplier segmentation • Alternate sourcing strategies • Ensure supply continuity in a fast-scaling startup environment 5. Engineering Change & Capacity Management • Execute engineering changes (ECR/ECN) with suppliers • Drive: • Capacity enhancement plans • Supplier development initiatives • Identify and onboard new suppliers for gap areas 6. Cross-Functional Execution • Work closely with: • Design, Quality, Manufacturing, Homologation, Planning • Align sourcing deliverables with program milestones & SOP timelines • Coordinate with: • Finance (cost tracking) • Logistics (material flow) What You Bring • 6–8 years of experience in: • EV / Automotive / Electronics sourcing • Strong understanding of: • Electrical: PCB assembly (SMT), ICs, passives, controllers, sensors • Mechanical: fabrication, casting, machining, plastics, sheet metal • Experience with: • APQP, PPAP, IATF processes • Strong skills in: • Supplier development • Negotiation & commercial closure • Cost modeling & BOM analysis • Comfortable with: • ERP tools (SAP / Oracle / Zoho / Teamcenter / JIRA) • Excel-driven analysis
