Sourcing Manager – Electrical & Powertrain (motor controller) Location: Bangalore, India Start Date: Immediate About Zeno An unprecedented energy transition has begun. Zeno is building a tech platform to electrify this two-wheeler market, currently responsible for more than 4% of the world’s GHG emissions. Our mission is to accelerate the energy transition and democratize the benefits across Africa, India, and Latin America. With a focus on East Africa as a starting point, Zeno is building a new energy ecosystem with ground-up development of a fundamentally better electric motorcycle and associated battery swap network to drive a better experience for our customers. You will be joining a bold team consisting of leading engineers, operators, and entrepreneurs hailing from companies that include Tesla, Apple, Google, SRAM, Ola Electric, Dott, LiveWire, Lucid, Bolt, Microsoft, and SafeBoda, among others. Zeno has raised capital from some of the world’s foremost mobility and climate investors, including Toyota Ventures and Lowercarbon Capital. The Role As a Sourcing Manager – Electrical & powertrain, you will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and managing suppliers for electrical and powertrain components used in Zeno’s electric motorcycles. This includes sourcing wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors, controllers, power train, switches, display units, lighting, and embedded electronic systems. What You Will Do - Develop and execute sourcing strategies for electrical and electronic components, ensuring cost, quality, and supply reliability. - Identify and manage relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers specializing in wiring harnesses, harness child parts, PCB assemblies, control modules, sensors, power train, and vehicle communication systems. - Work closely with engineering teams to ensure supplier capabilities align with vehicle electrical architecture, CAN communication, and power distribution requirements. - Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules to optimize cost, lead times, and supply reliability. - Ensure supplier compliance with automotive safety, durability, and EMI/EMC quality standards. - Monitor supplier performance, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and drive cost-down strategies without compromising quality. - Develop a risk management framework to mitigate disruptions in supply chains, semiconductor shortages, and lead time challenges. - Knowledge wiring components, sensors, displays, and embedded powertrain components to be resistant to environmental conditions such as heat, vibration, water exposure, and dust and sourcing of such components. - Support supplier audits, validation processes, and manufacturing process optimization to improve efficiency and reliability. What You Bring - 7-10 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management within the automotive, electrical, or powertrain industry. - Deep knowledge of electrical and electronic component suppliers, particularly in the motorcycle, EV, or automotive sector. - Experience working with wiring harnesses, PCB assemblies, power train, and digital displays. - Proficiency in cost estimation, supplier development, and commercial negotiations. - Technical understanding of vehicle electrical architectures, CAN communication protocols, and EMC requirements. - Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure supplier alignment. - Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills. Great to Haves: - Experience working for a Tier 1 supplier or OEM in sourcing, procurement, or supplier quality functions. - Knowledge of electric vehicle-specific components, such as onboard chargers, DC-DC converters, and motor controllers. - Experience in thermal management solutions for electronic components. - Familiarity with automotive electronic quality standards (ISO 26262, IATF 16949) and EMI/EMC compliance testing. - Understanding of emerging technologies in vehicle powertrain, such as smart dashboards, connectivity modules, and telematics systems.
